The perpetual members of the SSP Philippine-Macau Province held their 2016 Annual Retreat in two batches: July 10-15 and August 7-12. Venue was the Saint Joseph Marello Retreat House in Tagaytay City. Resource speaker for the two batches was Fr. Phil Estrella, OMI, former Provincial Superior of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. He is based in Cotabato City but often comes to Manila to give conferences on spirituality to different groups.

Elucidating on the theme of “Consecrated Life in the Jubilee Year of Mercy,” Fr. Phil spoke on the human need and search for God and the practice of the evangelical vows in our world today. He often referred to the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola on the theme of discernment. His presentations were not lengthy but beautifully illustrated by audio-visual aids.

On the last evening of the retreat, the participants went to Fr. Armand Tangi’s residence in Mendez, Cavite for an enjoyable repast and conversation.

The annual retreat was organized by the Center of Pauline Spirituality and Animation (CPSA) under the direction of Fr. Alan Gamutan.
