More than a quarter of a century after the Second Vatican Council, the Church finds herself in a world immersed in a culture of communication. Nowhere during our present generation have we seen a sudden influx of ideas and means when it comes to the way we communicate. Packets of data travel through the air, audio and video beamed through cables and satellite dishes, chunks of information move from one remote place to the other side of the world… these are but a few of the wonders communications technology has given us. And definitely, this is an exciting time for the Church and the faithful to harness the means provided by technology. After all, Christianity has always been a faith based on communication—the Word finding its rightful place within the heart, mind and will of every human being.

With this in mind, we are joining the numerous initiatives of the Church to reach out to the faithful and to bring the rich Christian tradition of prayer and community building via the Internet. We aim to do this through Grace and Space (www.graceandspace.org ).

Grace and Space is an online community that aims to create bonds through prayer, sharing of reflections, discussion of issues relevant to Christian and human formation. Current features include the following:

  • Daily Gospel-based reflection from “365 Days with the Lord 2009”
  • Blogsite for registered users
  • Discussion Forum (topics and thread will be opened soon)
  • Prayer Center where you can send your petitions and thanksgiving. A Prayer Web-ring has already been organized to offer your prayers
  • Verbuhay which is an aid in studying scriptures based on the Sunday liturgy

Soon, more features will be added, including a simplified version of the Breviary for the Morning and Evening Prayers (based on Pandasal). Tagalog reflections based on Simbahay will also be posted soon. A Download Center will also be set up for materials like novenarios and missal guides in PDF.

In line with this, may we request you to become our active partners in promoting this online community? You can either create a link from your website to our website, or you can send mass emails to your acquaintances and invite them to visit the website and register if they want to participate in the areas reserved for registered users

Everything at Grace and Space will be for free. Published materials from St Pauls Philippines will be used, with proper permission from the publishers.
