December 9, 2009 (Ortigas, Mandaluyong City)Fr. Armand Tangi, SSP launched his second book of paintings last December 8, solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, at Enchante, Oakwood Joy Nostalg, Mandaluyong City. The volume, entitled  “Mother of Surprises,” follows “Emmanuel” which presents portraits of the “contemporary Christ.” It features 35 portraits of the Madonna and Child and text written by Fr. Armand himself. Fr. Catalino Arevalo, SJ, in his Foreword, describes the paintings as a Filipino artist’s “inculturated images” of Mary coming from his contemplation and prayer. He invites the readers not to fail to read and enjoy the quasi-autobiographical texts of the book.

The launching was attended by Fr. Armand’s friends and admirers who procured books for themselves and as gifts for Christmas. The line of those asking Fr. Armand to autograph their copies was a long one. Present also during the launching were Fr. Armand’s confreres in the Society of St. Paul and the staff of ST PAULS, the publisher of the book.

Mother of Surprises” is now available at all ST PAULS outlets nationwide.
