December 8, 2008 (SSP Makati)—Relatives, friends and well-wishers alike flocked to the Sanctuary of St. Paul the Apostle on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception to join Fr. Armand Tangi, SSP as he celebrated his 25 years of priestly ministry. An array of blue, white and yellow flaglets lined up the main road of the SSP compound that led to the chapel. Fr. Armand has so many visitors that the whole compound was transformed into a huge parking space.

The Mass commenced at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Priests (both Paulines and diocesesan guests) marched to the altar which was beautifully decorated with white roses. What made the occasion extra special was the presence of Bishop Socrates Villegas, D.D. (Diocese of Balanga) who is a close friend of Fr. Armand.

In his thanksgiving speech, Fr. Armand acknowledged the assistance and presence of everybody who helped him be who he is now. Although he decided not to name names, his words of gratitude were higly appreciated and applauded by the appreciative assembly which included luminaries from the local movie and music industry.

The event was capped by a mini-concert held at the Don Zanoni Gym. Fr. Mario Sobrejuanite, SSP joined actor Matt Ranillo III and Rosalyn Vargas (Fr. Armand's niece who is based in California) on the stage as the hosts for the event. The St. Paul Seminary Choir sang Christmas carols while the guests are being seated. A short video presentation created by Cl. Jess Gozun was also shown. It highlights the apostolate of Fr. Armand as reflected in his various sets of paintings—the Emmanuel Series, the Loves of Rizal, Madonna and Child Series, and other individual works. Later, celebrity guests like Crysta Ranillo, Camille Pratts, Jamie Rivera, John Pratts and Tata Villaruel went onstage to present their numbers in honor of Fr. Armand. To sum it all, it was probably the biggest gathering in the Society of St. Paul.

Fr. Armand thanked everybody who came to celebrate with him. He especially thanked his family and relatives who came all the way from far places just to be with him on that particular day.

To Fr. Armand, you have always been a model of humility and hard work. May you continue to be blessed with good health, heart and mind that you may keep on doing God's work. Mabuhay po kayo!
