Sanctuary of St. Paul the Apostle, Makati City—Blessed James Alberione, the “Primo Maestro” and Founder of the Pauline Family, passed on to eternal life on November 26, 1971. Every year, the Pauline congregations, institutes, and cooperators celebrate the “Primo Maestro’s Day” on the Sunday closest to November 26, which this year fell on the 23rd of November. On this day, the Pauline Institutes of Consecrated Secular Life or the “Aggregated” Institutes played hosts to the Founder’s 43rd death anniversary. It was held at the SSP compound in Makati City. The Aggregated Institutes consist of the Institute of Our Lady of the Annunciation (IMSA), the Institute of St. Gabriel the Archangel (ISGA), the Institute of Jesus Priest (IGS), and the Institute of the Holy Family (ISF).
Primo Maestro’s Day also officially closed the Centennial celebration of the Society of St. Paul and and of the Pauline Chrism. (In Rome, the closing of the Centennial was marked by the audience of the members of the Pauline Family with Pope Francis on November 27).
At the Eucharistic celebration, the main celebrant, Fr. Joselino “Joey” Tuazon, IGS, was joined by SSP priests. Rev. Angelo Paolo Asprer, SSP gave the homily. Before the end of the Mass, Fr. Domie Guzman, SSP introduced the book The Pauline Family and gave copies to the superiors and coordinators of the Pauline congregations and institutes. The afternoon event was capped by an agape at the Don Zanoni Memorial Gym.
